Semi complete A10's Law change

DEFRA announce they will no longer issue Semi-complete Article 10's. (announcement dated 18th January 2011)

Semi-complete A10's were issued to taxidermists to help get over the high cost of a full Article 10 - by allowing us to collect and hold as freezer stock up to 10 specimens of common species with little value (Barn Owl; Little Owl; Tawny Owl; Short Eared Owl; Long Eared Owl; Kestrel; Common Buzzard & Sparrowhawk:) This all for one charge of £25 per species. The certificates also allowed the trade in carcasses (not mounted specimens). This helped where the low value of such items as a carcass didn't exceed £10 or £15. or in the case of Sparrow Hawk even less.

As from 18th January 2011 no more semi-completes will be issued - mainly due to misuse within the falconry market. - although DEFRA admit they were the only MA to issue such certs.

Taxidermists are now faced with a £25 fee for each specimen - so in reality it is now only worth collecting those specimens that you intend to mount up so that you realise the full financial value.
