What is the Guild of Taxidermists ?
The Guild of Taxidermists is the only officially recognised organisation actively working with the legislative authorities to secure the future for legitimate taxidermy in the UK.
IF YOU ARE A UK TAXIDERMIST, BE IT AMATEUR, WELL ESTABLISHED PROFESSIONAL OR COLLECTOR WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO CONTINUE THIS VITAL WORK.
Over the past 30 years the profile and standard within UK taxidermy has been raised considerably. This is due mainly to the hard work of the Guild of Taxidermists. We are now a respected body, regularly consulted and asked to contribute over a range of issues from legislation to media interest. If you are a practicing taxidermist or collector, whether you are or have been a member you will undoubtedly have benefited from the guilds activities.
What do we do?
Organise lectures and seminars to pass on advice, demonstrate new techniques and disseminate important information with regard to current and future legislation affecting taxidermy.
Meetings provide the opportunity for members to bring along their own work and enter it for competitions, credit judging or just get the opinion of a professional on a beginner's piece of work.
From time to time, we arrange for expert taxidermists from other countries to talk at our conferences.
Meetings also give a unique opportunity in an informal atmosphere where taxidermists from all over the UK and overseas can get together, form networks, exchange information and gain valuable knowledge and expertise. Usually over a pint or two.
We are committed to encouraging and maintaining good practice and standards within UK taxidermy.
We produce a journal that is full of interesting articles, modern taxidermy techniques and space for advertising by supply companies and members alike.
Why Join the Guild?
The Guild protects the art of taxidermy by: -
- Representing the industry with the government bodies.
- Sharing knowledge and skills of core taxidermy practices.
- Offering legal cost insurance and technical expert witness assistance in test cases.
